These Terms govern your use of File Viewer (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to them. This summary is provided for convenience and is not legal advice.

The Product

File Viewer is a free family of viewers that run entirely in your browser. There is no account, no upload, and no backend — your files are read on your device as described in the Privacy Policy. File Viewer is free to use; there is no paid tier and no payment information is ever collected.

Your Content & Responsibility

The files you open belong to you and stay on your device. You are responsible for the files you open, for having the right to view them, and for complying with the laws that apply to you. Only open files you trust.

Open Source & License

File Viewer is open source under the MIT License — you are free to use, modify, and redistribute the code under those terms. The source is on GitHub.

Rendering Is Best-Effort

Rendering may be incomplete or imperfect — some formats, Microsoft Publisher .pub among them, are proprietary and only partially supported. Do not rely on a viewer as the authoritative source for an important document; when accuracy matters, verify the file in its native application.

Trademarks & Affiliation

File Viewer is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Microsoft, Adobe, or any other company. Product and format names — Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, PDF, EPUB and the like — are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to describe the file types each viewer supports.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to violate the law or the rights of others, and not to attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer (except as permitted by law or an applicable open-source license), or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its users.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, File Viewer and its developer are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for amounts exceeding the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim (or $0 where the Service is free).

Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time — leaving the site also abandons any locally stored preference. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms or to protect the Service and its users.

Changes

We may update these Terms; material changes are reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer resides, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable or invalid, it shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining Terms stay in full force and effect.
